Rosevelt Moore Hicks, affectionately called "Wee", was born to Anderson P. Hicks and Helen Ruth Hicks in Rock Hill, SC on May 12, 1939. He was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Rosevelt was a graduate of Atkins High School Class of 1958 and continued his education at Forsyth Technical Community College where his focus was carpentry. He was employed by RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company where he was a diligent and dependable employee for over 30 years.
Rosevelt found his soulmate Evelyn "Earline" Gholston in the summer of 1965 and they married in 1970. Together they enjoyed traveling to Canada and visited Las Vegas on 17 different occasions. Rosevelt was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was also active in his community. He was a proud member of The Camel City Elks Lodge and president of Seniors of Distinction, a local senior citizens group.
Rosevelt was very family oriented and participated in family reunion meetings and gatherings until his health failed him. He enjoyed talking and fellowship with a very special supportive group of family members: his brother Samuel Chestnut; his devoted niece who was also like a daughter to him, Faith Davis; his nephews, Anderson Hicks, Jr., Carlos Hicks, Michael Hicks, and Antonio Hicks; and his cousins, Maxine Long, Willa Faye Davis, Natalie Hicks, Robert Hicks, Rosalyn Lash, Ann Hicks, Terrail Davis, and Daisy Hicks.
He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in the building of several rooms in his home. In addition, he loved gardening, fishing, traveling, and baking cakes.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn "Earline" Hicks; and brothers, Anderson (Fay) Hicks, Biggers Hicks, and Bobby Hicks.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Moir; son, Leo (Debra) Farrington; brother, Samuel (Alice) Chestnut; sisters-in-law, Ann Hicks, Bertha Gholston, and Patricia Gholston; brothers-in-law, Norman Gholston and Kenny Gholston; five grandchildren, Bryant (Dondi) McDowell, Leo Andrews, Krystal Farrington, Brandon Farrington, and Rhyan (Nike) Robeson; five great-grandchildren, Jaleel Robinson, Ka'Niyah Frasier, Kyrah Frasier, Annaliyah Farrington, and Elijah McCoy; a devoted best friend of over 64 years, Jessie Stewart; a devoted neighbor, Jimmy O'Neal; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 12noon Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
