Mrs. Rosena Gist Simpson transitioned peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Chester County, SC to the late John Gist and Carrie Baity Gist.

Rosena attended the York County Schools and retired from Carpenters' Flower Shop. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and later joined Emmanuel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Simpson, Sr.; two daughters, Carrie Allsopp and Mildred Blackwell; and three sons, Jeffrey, Kenneth, and Donald Simpson.

Rosena is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Roosevelt) Brooks, Rose Gist, and Sandra (Curtis) McCullough; sons, Earl, Jr., Jessie (Sylvia) Simpson of New Orleans, LA, Leonard (Donna) Simpson, Timothy (Michelle) Simpson of Greensboro, NC, Norvell, and Harry (Sheila) Simpson of W-S, NC; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Nathaniel Blackwell; two sisters, Annie Mae Gaston and Helen Hayes of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Konnie G. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
