Rosalla Valeria Witherspoon departed this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 12, 1959, the only child to parents Robert Wiley Watts and Gwendolyn Delores Watts. She was a devoted mother, niece, aunt, cousin, friend, and colleague.

She grew up in Winston-Salem and graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1977. Rosalla later attended Winston-Salem State University and obtained her associates degree in early childhood development from Forsyth Technical Community College.

In her career, she worked as management staff support at Bethlehem Child Development since 2008. Rosalla was a true advocate for the children in her community. She will be remembered for having a strong work ethic, showing kindness towards everyone, and for her warm and inviting smile.

She was a faithful member of Hanes Memorial CME Church in Winston-Salem, NC and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her sons, singing, completing her daily crossword puzzle, and playing mobile games on her cell phone.

Rosalla was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gwendolyn Watts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Derrick Witherspoon and Lamarr Witherspoon; aunts, Audrey Witherspoon and Phyllis Witherspoon; grandchildren, Rakeisha Witherspoon, Derrick Frazier, and Jhore Witherspoon; and a host of extended family in North Carolina and Maryland, as well as many dear friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Rosalla's Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center care team, Dr. Erin Jepsen and Kathy Bowman, and the Trellis Support Care staff for their kindness and care.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, December 16, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Hanes Memorial CME Church with Reverend Clarence Cox, III officiating.  The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
