Mrs. Rosa Lillie Wright Rice was born September 7, 1909 in Hartsville, SC, to Joseph Zimmerman Wright and Dora Lillie (Wright) Wright. She passed away July 11, 2014.

Rosa was the oldest living member and mother of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with 76 years of faithful service until her health failed. Rosa served on the Deaconess board and in other auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Skyland Senior Citizens Club.

Rosa was preceded in her passing by her husband, Wilford Powell Rice; a son, Donald W. Rice, Sr.; an infant baby boy; a grandson, Richard E. Rice, Jr.; and a great granddaughter, Destiny Cuthrell.

Rosa leaves four generations here to celebrate her life; a son, Richard (Alisha) Rice, Sr.; a daughter, Rev. Annie R. Duck; a multitude of grandchildren, Katrina (Charles) Eldridge, Crystal P. Murray, Sybil Phelps, Jerrell Cuthrell, Kayla D. Smoot, Shaton Pratt, Tenisha Rice, Z'ariah Rice all of WS, NC, Rodney (Terri) Howell of Seattle, WA, Donald Rice, Jr., Jacqueline Rice of Durham, NC, Reginald Rice of Charlotte, NC, Kawanna Rice of MD, Kemphus (Iesha) Cuthrell, Imani L. Cuthrell of Virginia Beach, Divine L. Cuthrell of Memphis, TN, Benson (LaShawnna) Ray, Jr., and Addison Ray of San Antonio, TX; two devoted nieces, Maebrel Vance of WS, NC and Geraldine Freeman of Columbus, OH; a very devoted nephew, James Butler; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday July 16, 2014 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 916 Highland Ave. with Dr. Paul A. Lowe, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.

The family will assemble and leave from the home of Mrs. Rosa Rice.
