Mrs. Rosa Mae Powell, 82, of 110 Crossfield Ridge Ct. peacefully went home to be with the Lord, August 7, 2016. Rosa, affectionately known as "Ma Powell", was born to Corrine & Harry Green in Bishopville, South Carolina on January 12, 1934.

She relocated to Winston-Salem, NC in the 1950's with spouse James Benjamin and 2 young children. She joined and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a retired employee of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and she was an environmental specialist for Tom & Bettyjo Lambe. Rosa was later married to Thomas Powell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Powell; and sisters, Louella Patterson and Mary Lee Green.

She leaves to cherish her memories 3 daughters, Annie Bobbie Scriven, Betty Ann Benjamin, and Julia (Kenny) Carter; a god daughter, Dorothy Epps; two devoted caregivers, her granddaughter, Chaunda (Milas) Sturdivant, and cousin Eva Dance; 2 brother Harry (Mary) Green and Boston Green; a sister Maggie Green; five generations of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews in North Carolina & South Carolina and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, August 12, 2016 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Church.
