Deaconess Rosa Miller was born to Rosa Hancock and John Sheriff on October 10, 1940 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
Mrs. Miller was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC and a product of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. She was a graduate of Atkins High School. Deaconess Miller graduated from Kate Bitting School of Nursing and received her Bachelor of Nursing and Master Degree in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University. This education prepared her to serve in the capacity of Registered Nurse and Director at Wake Forest University Hospital where she thrived.
Mrs. Miller was an active member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church for many years where she served in multiple ministries which include Choirs, Sunday School, and Prison Ministries.
Deaconess Miller was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Deacon Leroy Miller.
She is survived by her children, Christopher Miller, Cynthia Miller and Cheryl Miller; grandson, Brandon Shields all of Winston-Salem; a special niece, Tammy Kelly; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor James Cook officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Monday at the Church. Interment will be held at 10:00am Thursday, May 12, 2022 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
