Rosa Garris Johnson was born on August 26, 1927 to the late Joseph Nelson Garris and Gertrude McFadden Garris in W-S, NC and was transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
At an early age she accepted Christ and continued to serve the Lord until her demise on December 5, 2012. Rosa was one of the kindest people you could ever meet; she touched the lives of many with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark with a sense of humor and caring for all. She will be sorely missed.
Rosa Garris Johnson loved church and would faithfully attend Mount Calvary Holiness Church as often as she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Cleotha Johnson; mother, Minister Minnie Garris; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Sallie Johnson; grandson, Yahonne Garris;
sister, Mary Garris Compton; and two brothers, Joseph Garris, Jr. and Ed Lee Garris.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Walter (Barbara) Garris of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Miriam Garris Clemons (Nathaniel, Jr.) of the City; son, Sterling Garris of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Josephine Samuel and Essie Williams of the City; one brother, Samuel Garris of the City; three grandchildren, Tierney Garris, Sean Garris and Elder Antwan Clemons (Kathryn); sisters-in-law, Ruth (Willie) Carter and Frances Johnson of the City; special friends, Mrs. Agnes Charley, Mrs. Virginia Hill, Mrs. Sonia Cooper, and Mrs. Brenda Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Kimberly Park Holiness Church with Ruling Elder Wardlow Frazier presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
