Obituary

Mr. Roosevelt Gaston, a dedicated family man entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born in Chester County, SC and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Gaston and Willie Mildred Dunham Gaston Howze; his step-father, Joe Howze; sister, Annie Crockett; and brother, George Gaston.

After graduating from Chester High School, Roosevelt moved to Winston-Salem and later served proudly in the United States Army. He was a retired Chief Repairman for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. As an avid sportsman, Roosevelt bowled with several leagues throughout the years. He played softball with various leagues. He loved his motorcycle and was involved with several clubs including Chapter G. Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

Roosevelt loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a member of the Male Chorus, Men's Ministry, Lay Caregivers Ministry, the Wednesday Night Bible Study Class, and in other areas where he was needed.

Survivors include his wife, Vernal Gaston, two daughters, Richunda and Romonda; he was the proud grandfather to Sierra Hampton, Kayla Gaston, Kimani and Kamari Davis; brothers and sisters, Louise Howze, Edna (Luther) Williams, Hazeleen Nesbit, Josie (Evan) Huntley, Gwen (Thomas) Davis, Bishop Robert J. Gaston, Joe Marvin (Joanne) Howze, and Thomas Howze; he also leaves behind numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended families and friends.

The celebration of life service will be held at 12noon Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 700 Highland Ave. W-S, NC. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
