Mr. Rondal Venard Powell, known as "Ron", of Winston-Salem, NC was born February 1, 1944 to the union of Lorenzo Haggard Powell and Catherine Renee Powell. He departed this life on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Trinity Glen Nursing facility.

Ron was educated Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and was a graduate of Atkins High School.  He was a retired employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife, Lillie Mae Powell.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his five children, a devoted son, Lorenzo Venard Powell; daughters, Veronica Diane Campbell (Tracy), Lisa Ann Burl, DeAnna Renee Powell, and Catherine Michelle Kelly (Jermaine) all of Winston-Salem, NC; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren all whom he loved and did his best to do what he could for any of his family; and last but not least, he leaves behind a devoted childhood friend, Rev. Samuel Cornelius, whom he loved like a brother.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm Friday, May 14, 2021 in Piedmont Memorial Gardens with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating.
