Mr. Rogers Rucker was born to the union of Sylvester Rucker and Kathleen Flood Rucker on July 22, 1934 in Commerce, GA. He departed this life on November 16, 2011.
He was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System in his early years and finished his education in Banks County, GA. He was a retired employee of Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and also the Proprietor of Rogers Pallet and Yard Service.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Zetta Moses; and one grandchild.
He is survived by his former wife and confidant, Frances Rucker Smith; five daughters, Deborah Kay Lindsey, Vanessa (Anderson) Noble; Rosiland (Darryl) Webb, Pamela (David) Williams, and Valerie (Darien) Adams; two sons, Roger K. Rucker and Steven D. Rucker; a god-son, Michael Ball; four brothers, John Kent Imes, Luther Imes, Henry Imes, and Rodnell (Stella) Imes; five sisters, Louise McGill of Rome, GA, Bernice Cannon, Betty (Irvin) Williamson, Odessa (Donald) Scales, and Myrtle (Ed) McNeil all of the city; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a close friend, Ann Manuel; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, November 21, 2011 at St. Matthew Apostolic Temple, 3640 New Walkertown Rd, W-S, NC with Bishop Joseph P. Lowery officiating. Entombment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will meet with friends from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
