Rodney Turner was born to Colleen H. Turner and Robert L. Turner, Sr. on December 3, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from West Mifflin North High School in West Mifflin, PA he later attended and graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 1974.  He began his professional career working in logistics and material handling with the Sears Company and later accepted job assignments with Digital Equipment Company, Scott Paper Company, Johnson Hair Products, and Sarah Lee.

As a teenager he was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rankin, PA and while attending Cheyney University was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.  While living in Chicago, IL he became a member of several logistics affiliated professional organizations.  After moving to Winston-Salem in 2005 he met Tara Hayes where the courted and married in 2008.  Rodney was a care free, fun loving individual and did not mind being the "life of the part".

Rodney passed peacefully the morning of Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Melvin.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Tara; son, Rodney C. Turner; stepson, Tarek Hayes; siblings, twin brother-Roderick (Antoinette), Robert, Jr. (Drema), Deborah Turner, and Gaynelle Lewis (Craig); sister-in-law, Trina Crosby; aunts, Mary Louise Rice, Dorothy Rice, and Cornelia Williams; uncles, Irvin Rice, Spencer Rice, and Eugene Epps; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Tuesday at the Chapel.
