Rodney Lee Tucker, known as " Bull", graced the world as the baby of the family minutes after his twin brother on December 29, 1958. Rodney rested peacefully at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center after resilient battles with medical difficulties. He was predeceased by his mother, Clara Wagner Tucker and father, Nathaniel Lee Tucker who lived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Rodney grew up in Happy Hill Gardens in Winston-Salem where he was known as "Bull" - a named affectionately given by his mother. He was educated in the Forsyth County public school system and attended Parkland High School graduating with the class of 1977. He studied at the Career Center where he learned of his love of the culinary arts. Rodney joined the Army and served his country as a culinary specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1981. He went on to become employed at Bowman Gray School of Medicine for over 20 years and retired medically as a custodial worker. He also worked part time for many years at Wake Forest University.
While studying culinary arts, Rodney met his first true love - Barbie. His only child - Rhonda Lynette was born from that love and union. He doted on his daughter and her mother until he rejoiced with our Lord and Saviour on March 16th, 2023.
Rodney was adored and protected by his family and had special connections with each of his siblings, including his "go to" sister, Natalie "DeeDee" and his twin brother, Roger "PeeWee"- with whom he was so close, they created their own language and often talked multiple times daily.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Rhonda Tucker- Williamson (Rayven); a devoted and loving companion, Barbie W. Tucker; siblings, Nathan Tucker, Wanda Tucker (Ira Stohlman), Natalie Tucker Teagle (Jacob Teagle), Roger Lee Tucker (Loretta Humphrey-Crews), and Bessie Jean Hairston (Eugene Cook); and an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 12noon Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Saturday at the Chapel. A tree planting ceremony will be held in Happy Hill Garden Park in September of 2023.
