On Friday, December 2, 2016, Rodney Theophilus Moore, affectionately known as "Moe" to his friends, peacefully entered into eternal rest. Rodney was born on January 17, 1961 to the late Reverend Walter Moore and the late Minister Thelma B. Moore of W-S, NC.

Rodney attended the Winston-Salem School System, was an alumnus of Winston-Salem State University, and was also a veteran of the United States Marines. He made Charlotte, NC his home, but never forgot his roots in Winston-Salem, returning frequently to spend time with his friends and family. Rodney was always so caring and loyal to his friends and family.

He made a career as a youth detention center and retired from The Stonewall Jackson Youth Detention Center in Concord, NC where he was employed over 20 years.

Rodney was a loyal and devoted Redskins fan! He loved to travel the world, and wherever he went he was sure to be on someone's dance floor, especially after he took up the hobby of ballroom dancing. He was always looking for the next adventure, but above all of this, was his love fishing. There's just a certain kind of peace that a man has on the water….

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Reader; brother, Ricardo Moore; and most recently his beloved sister, Carsandra Koger.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his beloved daughter, Megan Wolford; his younger sister, Lurline Moore; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will surely be remembered by a vast circle of beloved friends, two of which we give special honor and a life time of thanks, Harrison Finklea and Ricky Finklea.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Delores R. Johnson officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Chapel.
