Robert Nathaniel Yancey, Jr., "Bobby", was born April 6, 1957 and departed this life February 5, 2022 after an extended illness.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age.  He attended St. Benedict the Moor  and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Schools.  Graduating from East Forsyth Sr. High School, he pursued higher education at West Virginia Tech.  Bobby retired from Lucent Technologies, Orlando, FL.

He was an Officer with the Southern Riders Motorcycle Club, Orlando, FL.  Bobby would often boast of the club's community service programs and fundraisers, especially those providing food, gifts, and toys to children during the holiday seasons.  He really cared about at risk and troubled youth by doing what he could and offering counsel and assistance.  Growing up, Bobby was an excellent "show off" water skier.  Throughout his life, he loved fishing, hunting, and hosting outdoor barbecues, but took the most pleasure in experiencing the open road on the back of his motorcycle.  He loved to travel and never met a stranger.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert N. Yancey, Sr. and Edna Chandler Yancey.

He is survived by his sisters, Delores Dean Yancey of the city and Geraldine Debra Yancey of Lewisville, NC; brothers, Gregory Vincent (Deborah) Yancey, Sr, of the city, Marshay Merrell (Alecia) Yancey of Gallipolis, OH, and Tyrone Edward (Beverly) Yancey of the city; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A special acknowledgement to Mrs. Catherine Butler, a valued longtime, next-door neighbor and friend.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, February 18, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
