Mr. Robert Denard Thompson, 67, of Winston-Salem, NC passed on March 8, 2021. He was born August 6, 1953 in Forsyth County to John Lee Thompson and Alice Turner Thompson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Minnie Turner.
Mr. Thompson was educated in the local school system graduating from Parkland High School. He was a member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the US Army. Robert was known throughout his community as an odd-jobs man doing everything from plumbing, landscaping, to car repairs and even serving as fry chef at cook-outs. Robert, "Kool-Aid" was highly regarded among friends and neighbors. His greatest pastime was sitting on a fishing bank hauling in the big ones which he gladly shared with others.
Robert is survived by his loving mother of the home; daughters, Felicia Beard, Rashanda Thompson, and Jamilka Thompson; sons, Robert Thompson Jr. and Terrell Lampkins; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Deborah Oakes (Robert), John Thompson, Jr. (Feyette) of Fayetteville, NC and William Thompson (Wendy); a loving niece, Chasidy Chatman; nephew, Kevin Oakes; aunt, Brenda Harris; and numerous cousins, friends and extended family will treasure many happy memories of their loved one.
A viewing will be held from 1pm until 6pm Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
Interment will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Salisbury National Cemetery.
