Robert Harris, Sr., was a devoted husband, family member, and friend.  He peacefully departed this life on September 21, 2024 after an extended period of illness. Robert was born on April 23, 1942, to Lillie Mae and James Harris in Winston-Salem, N.C.  Robert's life was marked by profound dedication and compassion.

He was a 1962 graduate of Atkins High School, and an Honorably discharged Army Vietnam War Veteran, serving 1965-1966. Robert was employed by UPS, the US Postal Service, and RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Helen Harris on November 4, 2011. Their union was a testament of love dedication.

Robert was a gentle giant, whose presence will be greatly missed. His legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Mae and James Harris; and brother, Elmore Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Helen Harris; brothers, Freddy and Carl Harris; nieces, Alika and Nakita; nephew, Trivillus; bonus daughters, Candace Galloway (Maurice) and Lisa Witherspoon (Alphonso); brother-in-law, Reginald Mack; sisters-in-law, Sonya Mack and Cecilia Harris; grandchildren, Simond Mack (Nikki), Desmond and Alphonso Galloway, Alicia Galloway,  and Erica and Destiny Lawson; and a host of other family and friends, near and far.

Our dear Robert's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and love for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Monday at the Chapel.
