Robert Lee Pitts, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Robert Pitts, Sr. and Sandra Pitts. He was a graduate of North Forsyth High School. He spent his whole life in Winston-Salem, where he left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Robert had a passion for fishing and enjoyed being out in nature. Robert loved being out on the pier watching the waves crash on the sand. Robert also enjoyed being "ampa" to his five grandchildren who he loved deeply.

Robert dedicated many of years to UPS and the Winston-Salem Journal.

Robert was a gentle giant that never met a stranger. He was a selfless man who would have given his last to others.

As a devoted Christian, Robert's faith played a significant role in his life, providing him with strength and guidance throughout his journey.

Robert is survived by his three children, Taylor (Brittany) Pitts, Addison (Morgan) Franks both of Winston-Salem, NC and Robert Braden (Mackenzie) Pitts of Virginia Beach, VA; three sisters, Juanita Pitts, Sabrina (Morris) Garrett both of Winston-Salem, NC and Kimberly (Sean) Stafford of Durham, NC; five grandchildren, Braxton Flores-Pitts, Kingston Pitts, Zaydin Franks, Laylani-Lynn Franks, and Emerick Pitts; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Kendall Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation and public viewing will be held from 10:30am until 11:30am on Saturday at the Chapel.
