Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up [that which is] planted; That season and time came for Robert Lee Brown early Monday, March 24, 2008. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Mr. Brown was born to Charles and Frances Brown, October 30, 1926 in Darlington County, SC.
Robert Brown was a retiree of the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. He continued to work throughout his senior years. He remained active after formal retirement by Co-Founder, B & B Car Wash, and contracting with Pepsi by providing janitorial services until failing health.
He was preceded in death by both parents; spouse, Ella Mae Brown; two brothers, James and William Brown; three sisters, Ellen B. Walls, Classie B. Singleton, and Charlia Mae Brown.
He is lovingly survived by his five children, Robert Brown, Jr., Windell Brown, Sr., Shirley (Richard) Hamilton, Cynthia (Glenn) Williams, and Syreda Brown Martin all of Winston-Salem, NC; 10 grandchildren, Angela (Dederick) Jenkins, James (Lawanda) Brown of Winston-Salem, NC, Montrice Brown of Durham, Windell (Shannon) Brown, Jr. of Summerfield, Cuncho Brown of New York City, Michael Brown of Cary, Rochelle Martin, Akiva, Aria, and Alamo Williams of Winston-Salem, NC; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also surviving is a special and long-time companion, Jacqueline Vaughn who was by his side until the end.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Kimberly Park Holiness Church, 417 Burton & Lime Ave., Winston-Salem, NC with Apostle S.D. Johnson officiating, and Elder Robert Edmonds, Jr. as the eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon Saturday at the church.
