Mr. Robert Hall was born the eldest of twin boys in Little Mountain, South Carolina to the late Johnnie and Azzilee Hall on July 17, 1935. He passed away August 8, 2014.
He and his family relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1944 where Robert attended and graduated from Atkins High School. Aside from academics, Robert enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball and baseball. Robert was employed with Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired from the Hyatt Hotel as a Head Chef.
Robert, known for his favorite saying "Oh Yeah", was an easy going man who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Those who knew him attest to the fact that Robert was an impeccable dresser, a humble gentleman with an infectious smile, who never met a stranger and would go out of his way to assist others. As a devoted member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Robert unselfishly and faithfully served as a deacon, usher and greeter for several years, as well as served in the missionary group and men's ministries department.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Evangelist Marlene Joyner-Hall; sister, Edith Hall; daughter, Doris Jean Hall-Jackson; and brothers, David Winifred "Wayne" Hall and James Lee Smith.
Robert is survived by and leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughters, Yvette (Willie) Houser, Charlene (David) Marshall, and Jamie Joyner; sons, Robbie (Sharon) Johnson, Steven Lindsey all of Winston-Salem, NC and Alfonzo Joyner of College Springs, GA; fifteen grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Roy (Bettie) Hall of Eden, NC and his brother, Robert (Catherine) Smith of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Margaret Hill of Orlando, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Although Robert has a host of friends, his "best friend" was his beloved dog and companion, Smokey.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, August 15, 2014 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
