Obituary

Robert Gallman Cunningham "Sparrow" of 4970 Carver Glen Lane Winston-Salem, NC departed this life January 14, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born to Eddie C. Gallimore, Jr. and Eula Mae Cunningham February 8, 1947.

He attended the local schools where he later joined the Marines on November 16, 1967 where he did a tour in Vietnam. He came back and completed his education in which he celebrates with the Atkins Class of 1971. He was employed by R.J. Reynolds for several years, where he received many awards and accolades. He was a member of the Olympic Lodge # 795, Post # 220, and an active member of Atkins Class of 1971.

Rob was a small man in stature, but very big-hearted. Everything he did, he spared no expense.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, Eddie C. Gallimore, Jr.; his brother, Willie Edward Cunningham; sisters, Sequila Bess, Gloria Jean Adams, and Jaqueline Michelle Gallimore.

Robert leaves to cherish his loving memories sons and daughters all of the city, Marsha (Penny) Kinzer, Anthony (Tenita) Davis, Robin (Gordon) Hairston, Angie Massey, and Gabriel Bethea; a host of brothers and sisters, Delores Bailey of Baltimore, MD, Debra (Monte) Oliver of Atlanta, GA, Carolyn (Iverfon) May of Springfield, OH, Drusilla Amos, Derrick Cunningham, Mrs. Albertine Dukes, Ms. Geraldine Archie, Vickie (Alphonso) Ford, Karen (Larry) Watson, Debra (James) Mills, Antonio R. Gallimore, and Darryl L. Gallimore all of the city and Gerald (Shedina) Adams of Kennesaw, GA; a devoted special mom, Rosa M. Gallimore; an aunt, Thelma Nix; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from the Union Baptist Church with Reverend James Clyburn officiating. Entombment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12Noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
