Obituary

Robert Lee Brown, 73, of Walkertown, NC was born on May 15, 1947 in Reading PA and was the son of Ester M. Brown and Jay C. Brown.

Bob will be dearly missed along with his tender loving spirit and self-less service to those that knew him. After attending Reading Senior High School in Reading, PA, Bob joined the United States Army and served honorably with military honors with 26 years of service and climbed the ranks during his military career to First Sergeant. Bob served during the Vietnam Campaign in the 199 th Infantry Brigade and was awarded a Purple heart. Also, he served at Camp Casey in Korea headquarters company, 2 nd Infantry Division. Before retiring, Bob was the First Sergeant at C Company, 3D Battalion, 5 th Training Brigade in Fort Dix, NJ. During his military career he enjoyed boxing and was a competitive boxer.

During Bob's retirement he enjoyed his yardwork and fishing. Bob enjoyed cooking, traveling and playing pool and spending time with family and friends. He has been a lifelong member of the Prince Hall Masonic lodge since the early 1970s.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie Brown; brother, Nate Flowers; and his nephew, Benton Brown.

Everyone knew Robert as "Bob" as he went onto be with his Lord in heaven on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Bob was married to Mildred of several years. "Bob" has 3 surviving children, Robert Gardner stationed in Spain, Michelle Mack of Maryland, and Brandon L. Brown of PA; his brother, Charles Cash of NC; grandchildren, Serena Gardner of Colorado Springs, Lyrick Bright and Harmoni Johnson of Georgia, Eliana, DayStar Tristan Lee, Brandon Lee Jr. of PA; great grandchildren, Violet Gardner of Oregon and Jaxson Joseph Johnson of Georgia; nieces and nephews, Damon and Desmond Brown of PA, Tonya of PA, Karina and Chris of NC; extended family Mr. and Mrs. Asburry of SC and a host of extended family, and several close friends.

Private services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020.
