Richard Lee Wilson, age 76, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Richard was born on November 14, 1944 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Rosa Howard and William Wilson. He attended Barber-Scotia College and finished his bachelor's degree at Winston-Salem State University. He then worked as a long-distance truck driver for McLean Trucking Company, and later, worked for Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation.
He was a faithful, lifelong member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder. He also previously served as president of the Men's Council and on the church finance committee.
Richard was an avid football fan. He and his wife were original Carolina Panthers permanent seat license owners and spent most weekends during the football season traveling to Charlotte to cheer on the Panthers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Wilson; and one sister, Brenda Grafton.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cleta Boston Wilson; devoted children, Lauretta Wilson, Adrienne Wilson, and Ryan Wilson; cherished granddaughter, Morgan Jones-Wilson; he is also survived by his sister, Mary Chisholm; stepfather, Samuel Howard; four aunts; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home. Private services will be held Monday, August 2, 2021. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
