Mr. Richard A. Landrum, Sr. departed this earthly life January 30, 2014. He was born on December 11, 1936 to the late Smiley Landrum and the late Victoria L. Wilson.
He graduated from Atkins High School Class of '55 and then entered the U.S. Navy. Upon returning he became employed by McLean Trucking Company as a supervisor. He was also a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, also becoming a trustee.
Richard was a great mentor to young people about education, sports, and making a great future for themselves. His hobbies were his Masonic affiliation and golf.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Emma S. Landrum; four children, Christie D. Landrum, Jana L. Myers (Dewayne), Richard A. Landrum, Jr. (Constance), and LaMarr M. Landrum; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers, Remonia (Early) Williams of Piscataway, NJ, Ronald L. Fowler, Sr. of Washington, DC, Saundra W. Paris of Old Bridge, NJ, Raymond Wilson of Atlanta, GA, Janice Wilson of New Port News, VA, and Monica Tampbell of Gaithersburg, MD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Konnie G. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the Church.
