Pastor Richard Franklin Lowery of 3104 Williston Rd, Walkertown, NC, was born in Forsyth County on February 13, 1936 to Luther Roosevelt Lowery and Mildred Hairston Lowery. He was called to Heaven on November 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Pastor Richard F. Lowery, while attending Carver Consolidated High School, served in the Army Reserves until he graduated and was soon honorably discharged from the United States Army. He continued his education at Piedmont Bible College and Shaw School of Divinity. Pastor Richard F. Lowery was a dedicated employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he retired and continued his Faithful and dedicated ministry full-time.
Pastor Richard F. Lowery, before becoming the faithful Pastor of Pine Hall Missionary Baptist Church for over 41 years, was a part of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Family, where he was a Deacon, Trustee, and Usher, to name a few before he accepted his call to Preach. Pastor Lowery was instrumental in growing Pine Hall Missionary Baptist Church spiritually and physically by constructing the Fellowship Hall, drawing up the plans, and leading the construction of our current Sanctuary. After his retirement as Pastor, the Pine Hall Education Building was Dedicated and renamed the Rev. Richard F. Lowery Educational Building.
His family will never forget him as a man of Faith, Valor, Humility, Strength, and love for people. Pastor Lowery was a well-known community revivalist and was known as a Pastor's - Pastor. His Faith and Character continue to be a foundation for his family and will continue to be built upon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Plushia Mae and Alberta Teal; two brothers, Willie "WC" and James Lowery; and a granddaughter, Dorsaya.
He leaves behind loving and precious memories and an amazing legacy to the love of his life of over 65 years, Betty G. Lowery; daughters, Charlene (Rev. Kalvin), Patricia (Rev. Tony), and his baby girl and caregiver, Carolyn; one son, Richard "Ricky'; seven grandchildren, Calvin (Chantel), Christopher, Tiffany, Crystal, Olivia, Denise, and Patrice; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Luther Roosevelt Lowery (Luther Mae); one sister, Louise Bailey (Gurvis); long-time friend, Rev. Robert Hairston; lifelong friend, Carl Fulton; the Pine Hall Missionary Baptist Church Family whom he loved dearly; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, December 1, 2023 at Pine Hall Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Michael King officiating and Reverend Robet Hairston eulogist. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Friday at the Church. Interment will be held at 1:00pm Monday, December 4, 2023 in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
