Richard James Baldwin, 58, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2022 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by family.
Richard was born November 29, 1963 in Queens, New York the son of Willie Mae Davis and Robert Baldwin. He was the oldest of their three children.
He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. While there he pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the Psi Delta Chapter. Richard graduated from North Carolina A&T State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.
He worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in open-heart surgery and trauma intensive care. He was employed by the top rated Trauma One Center Hospitals in North Carolina and the District of Columbia Region. Richard served his Country as an Officer in the US Navy, as a Registered Nurse, and was deployed to the Gulf War. On March 27, 2002, Richard received the most precious gift from God his son, Jaden Baldwin.
Richard was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend. He was a God fearing man, always seeking the word of Jesus. He was a history buff always challenging others on their knowledge level. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan; you would find him enjoying the game at a sports restaurant with his best friend and son Jaden. Richard had a quirky humor to his family and friends, but under it all he truly loved us. He always pushed the younger generation to pursue higher education and to excel in any endeavor.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Davis; and sister, Teresa Baldwin.
Richard will truly be missed as he is survived by his son, Jaden Baldwin; his father, Robert Baldwin; sister, Janice Baldwin; and brother, Ronnie Davis; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center for the care and compassion provided.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 12:30pm on Friday at the Chapel.
