Mrs. Rhonda Young Gantt departed this life to be with her heavenly father on Monday, December 7, 2009. Mrs. Gantt was born December 23, 1961 in Winston-Salem, NC to Ruby A. Young and Andrew Alexander Young, Jr. She graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1980 and attended college at North Carolina Central University. She was employed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System at Cochrane Middle School as a Parent-Student Advocate. She also was formerly employed at Philo Middle School.
Mrs. Gantt was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents; mother-in-law; sister-in-law; and an uncle.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Neal Gantt; one daughter, Phylicia "Sweet Pea" Gantt; her mother, Ruby A. Young; one sister, Valeria Y. Greene; her devoted nephews, Danny and Derrick Greene; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; uncles and aunts; many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins; and extended family and friends.
A funeral services celebrating her life will be conducted at Noon Saturday, December 12, 2009 from the St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, 5000 Noble Street W-S, NC. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 11am until Noon on Saturday at the Church.
