Reverend Henry VanEaton, known as "Dad" to most, heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest, lie down thy weary soul, lie down thy head upon my breast." He answered the call on Tuesday morning, August 11, 2009 after a brief illness. He was born December 11, 1926 to the late Frances VanEaton and Marshall Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Little VanEaton.
He leaves to rejoice in his memory three sons, William (Diane) Little, Melvin ( Janie) VanEaton, and Curtis (Beverly) VanEaton; three daughters, Barbara Amos of Charlotte, NC, Delores Hamilton and Lucy (Levi) Bryant all of Winston-Salem, NC; nineteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and a devoted neighbor, Alma.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, August 15, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Curtis VanEaton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
The family will meet with friends at the home of his son at 180 Athens Drive Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
