Obituary

Reverend Dr. Herbert Lee Moore was born October 25, 1925 to the late Freeland Moore and Josephine Patrick Moore in Leland, NC. He departed this life on September 12, 2011 from the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He attended and was a graduate of the public schools in Brunswick County. He served in the United States Navy and after an honorable discharge, felt the call to the Ministry and made preparation to the work that he was called to do. His education led him to American Bible College – Chicago, IL., Shaw University, Hampton Institute, and United Christian College-Goldsboro, NC, where he received his Bachelor of Theology Degree and Doctor of Divinity Degree in 1974. He was Pastor of many churches. The last two churches were the Mount Carmel Baptist Church and the Bibleway Baptist Church where he was the founder and pastor. He was the Moderator of Cedar Creek Baptist Church for 13 years.
Reverend Dr. Moore was preceded in life by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
He leaves not to mourn but cherish his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Mrs. Geraldine Newkirk Moore of the home; one daughter, Ms. Revenda Mosley of Winston-Salem, NC; three sons, Henry (Linda) Pridgen and Terry Moore of Winston-Salem, NC, and Daryl Moore of Kernersville, NC; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers; three sisters; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends; three devoted brothers in the Ministry, Dr. Ruben Gilliam, Dr. James Fulwood, and Elder and Mrs. Donald Newkirk and Family.
Homegoing services will be held at 12noon Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church where the Pastor is Pastor Daryl Young and Dr. James Fulwood eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
The family wishes to extend much love and thanks to G&D Quality Care, Forsyth Medical Center, and the Hospice Care Center for their kindness and consideration for being who they are and what they are to the Moore Family.
