Obituary
Reverend Dr. L.O. Saunders "King LO," Great Pastor of the AME church, Presiding Elder, and Civil Rights Leader. Dr. Saunders was called Home by God on August 27, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
He was a member of St. James AME Church Winston-Salem, NC where Rev. Steven Lyons was his pastor.
A local family visitation will be held from 6pm until 7:30pm Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. James AME Church, 1501 N. Patterson Avenue W-S, NC.
A family visitation will also be held from 6pm until 8pm Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Saunders Funeral Home Chapel, 210 Bell Fork Road Jacksonville, NC 28540.
Homegoing services will be held at 11am Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church, 1011 Dr. JE Reddick Circle, Kinston, NC 28501. Interment will follow in the Saunders Family Cemetery, Richlands, NC. The viewing will be held from 10am until 11am on Saturday at the Church.
Russell Funeral Home is in charge of all local arrangements. Saunders Funeral Home, 210 Bell Fork Road Jacksonville, NC 28540 is in charge of funeral services.
The family will be receiving friends at the home of his daughter, Alinda Gadson, 1709 Carriage Cove Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
