Reverend Artis Ray Bennett passed away peacefully on August 29, 2009. He was born in Hamlet, NC and was the son of the late Paul Bennett and Clara Ingram Bennett.
Reverend Bennett graduated from Hamlet High School and Richmond Community College with a degree in welding. He also worked in the Richmond County School System. He was ordained in the ministry in May of 2008.
Reverend Bennett is survived by his devoted wife, Reverend Veronica McCullough Bennett; four special aunts, Bennie Nicholson of Winston-Salem, NC, Carrie W. Adams of Clinton, MD, Sir Willis Bethea and Maria Dunlap (Eugene) both of Hamlet, NC; two uncles, Thomas Ingram (Shirley) of Fayetteville, NC and Richard M. Ingram of Suffolk, VA; special people who came into his life; father and mother-in-law, Reverend Dr. W.O. McCullough and Mrs. McCullough, the entire Mack Family; special friends, Minister Richard and Sister Zell Heard; special cousin, Inez Barr; a special friend who became like a sister, Prophetess Maxine Staton; and a host of several special cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, September 4, 2009 from the Union Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Sir Walter Mack, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Rockingham, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10am until 11am on Friday at the Church.
