Relford Sellers, Jr. was born on January 17, 1925 to the union of Relford Sellers, Sr., and Alice Sellers in East Newark, NJ. Relford received his formal education in the Newark Public Schools. Upon graduation he was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a Corporal and was stationed in Europe for most of his military career.
He was employed with Ford Motor Company, Art Metal Company, and the Newark Public Schools. In his leisure he enjoyed his four brothers, five sisters and their families, Italian cooking, and music: especially Barry White.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 50 years, Catherine; one daughter, Patricia Sellers-Bradford; one son-in-law, Carlton Bradford; one God-daughter, Cheryl Frazier; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Apostle Theophilus Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
