Obituary

Mr. Reginal Leon "Reggie", "Nose" Doster, 49, left us on March 17, 2015 (St. Patrick's Day) to meet his heavenly father who he loved with all his heart and soul. He was an awesome son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a man of great faith.

He was born June 23, 1965 in Monroe, NC to Mae Doster and James Franklin. Reggie grew up in Monroe, NC and later moved to W-S, NC when he was 12 years old where he attended the WS/FCS and graduated in 1983 from Parkland High School. Reggie was an extraordinary basketball player teaching many people his skills and traits. Reggie also furthered his education attending Barron Christian College and Fayetteville State University majoring in business in 1986-1988.

He met Tonya La-Vern in 1986, had children, and married in 1992. His career as an established painter was extraordinary at the Winston-Salem Journal. He later began working at UPS delivering packages whereas he developed personal relationships with his clients. He was a member of St. Matthews Apostolic Church, under the pastorate of Bishop Lowery. Reggie loved his family, he was caring, giving, and had a wholesome heart to make everyone laugh. His spirit was exceptionally strong and graceful.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind his 30 year partner and best friend, Tonya La-Vern; two sons, Maurice Simmons (Jasmine) and Terell Simmons (Joy); one daughter, Moniqucia Varner (Xzavier) all of W-S, NC; five grandchildren, Iyana of SC, JaNalle, Amyra, Alanee, and Terell, Jr. all of W-S, NC; brother, Wesley Franklin of Atlanta, GA; dedicated mother-in-law, Audrey Franklin of Greensboro, NC; devoted cousin and friend, Bradley Chambers; great friends, Von Carpenter, Reggie Frazier, Julius (Nook) Mitchell, and Junior Scales all of W-S, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
