Obituary

Regina Mae Elcock was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 18, 1951 to the late
James T. Elcock and Willie Mae "Willow" Elcock. She departed this life on Saturday November 3, 2012.

Regina grew up in Brooklyn, NY and was educated in the New York Public School System. She graduated High School, 1969 from Erasmus Hall High School. She earned her Bachelors at City College of New York and Master's Degree at Bank Street College, Henery St. Settlement Music School.

Regina taught in New York City Schools before moving to W-S, NC teaching in the W-S/Forsyth County School System and retiring in 2007 from Easton Elementary.

Regina was motivated to serve the Lord and served in many capacities at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. She was the Youth Director, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Stephens Ministry Leader, and Voices of Praise advisor. She was a member of the following auxiliaries and ministries: Barnabus Ministry, Christian Fellowship Choir, Praise Team, United Fellowship Ushers, and the Financial Advisory Team. She was also a member of the LaMeD Academy .

She was preceded in death by her father, James T. Elcock.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Yolanda Shepherd-Reid (Derrick); mother and step-father, Willie Mae "Willow" and Elbert Elcock; her grandchildren whom were the apples of her eyes, Deonica, Deja, and Derrick Reid Jr. "D.J"; two brothers, James T, Elcock, Ph.D. (Helene-Marie) of St. Charles, MO and William J. Elcock (Sitirian) of Charlotte, NC; Godparents, Issac and Alice McKie; God-siblings, Raymond and Joyce McKee; nephew, Melchizedek Elcock; niece, Domenice Elcock of Charlotte, NC; great-nephew, Jeremiah Elcock of Jersey City, NJ; God-daughter, Candice Haylel; God-son, Turner Faulk; devoted friends, Luther Jones, Phylliss McKinney, and Rosemary Chavis (Blair); adopted niece, Lauren Chavis-Smith; a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, November 8, 2012 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Price Raney Rivers officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
