Rebecca Renae Sturdivant was born in Petersburg, Virginia on October 12, 1978 to Johnnie and Yolanda Sturdivant.  She departed this life on June 30, 2019 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ms. Sturdivant was educated in Texas, Germany, Georgia, Massachusetts and North Carolina as a child of a soldier in the United States Army.  She graduated from Carver High School in Winston-Salem in 1997.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Winston-Salem State University in 2001 and her Master of Science degree from Virginia State University in 2005.

Ms. Sturdivant was employed as a clinical laboratory scientist at Quest Diagnostics.  Early in her career she was employed at the University of Virginia Health System and VCU Health.

Ms. Sturdivant was a charter member of Tau Beta Sigma Sorority, Incorporated at Winston-Salem State University.  She was also a sister in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Ms. Sturdivant was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory her parents Johnnie and Yolanda Sturdivant; older sister, Nicole Sturdivant; twin sister, Catherine (Oliver) Anglin; younger brother, Johnnie Sturdivant, Jr.; a niece, Johnnae Sturdivant; a nephew, Bahari Anglin; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday July 5, 2019 at Macedonia Worship Center with Bishop Mary Singletary officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Church.
