"Well done, thou good and faithful servant..." – Matthew 25:23
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the blessed age of 84, Mrs. Rebecca Jones Green was gently called home by her Heavenly Father—on the very day she was born into this world, she was also born into eternity. She passed peacefully, wrapped in the same grace and faith that had carried her throughout her life.
Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on July 8, 1941, to the late Mr. Earl Lee Jones and Mrs. Armetrius Green Jones. Rebecca's life was rooted in love, humility, and strength. Rebecca received her early education and graduation from Winston-Salem /Forsyth County Schools.
Rebecca was no stranger to hard work. She was employed by RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, a staple in Winston-Salem, and later by Big Lots, where her warm presence and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on both coworkers and customers alike. Yet it wasn't just her work that spoke of her strength—it was the love she poured into her family, her kitchen, and her walk with God.
At an early age, Rebecca accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted member of Rainbow Tabernacle Church, where she served with reverence, joy, and unwavering faith. She believed in the power of prayer, the strength of scripture, and the peace that comes from knowing Jesus.
She had a mother's heart and a grandmother's touch. Rebecca was the proud and loving mother of Preston Denard Jones (Elder) and Roderick Lamont Green both of Winston-Salem, NC. She was a nurturing grandmother to Temeshia Patrice Bryant Settles (Kannapolis, NC), and a joyful great-grandmother to Camden Bryant, Brice Settles, and Mahogany Settles—her pride and joy, her living legacies.
She loved her family deeply and expressed that love in the most delicious ways—through her southern cooking, tender gardening, and especially her love of banana pudding, a dish that brought the family together time and time again! She lived a life of faith and fruitfulness. Her hands were never idle-they were always creating, nurturing, sowing and serving.
Rebecca was the cherished sibling of her brothers who preceded her in death: Earl Rudolph Jones, Walter Bee Jones, and Alvin H. Jones, and she held the memories of her siblings dear in her heart until her final breath.
As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of Proverbs 31:28 – "Her children arise up, and call her blessed..." And truly, she was. Blessed and a Blessing.
She has now joined that great cloud of witnesses resting in the arms of Jesus. Her journey is complete, her labor is done, and her soul is at peace.
We take comfort in 2 Timothy 4:7 – "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
Though our hearts are heavy, we do not grieve as those who have no hope, for we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). Rest well, dear Rebecca, dear Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. We will see you in the morning.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Friday, July 18, 2025 at Kimberly Park Holiness Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Friday at the Church.
