Rebecca Ann Cross Mackey was born September 3,1961 to the late James Gaither Cross and Betty Jean Cross. She was a native of Weaverville NC, and a current resident of Winston Salem NC. She departed this earthly life on April 16, 2021.

Rebecca spent most of her life working in the service of others. She was well loved by her friends, family, and those that she has taken care of through the healthcare system. Rebecca was a very loving and compassionate soul, giving to all in need. She was a living example of strength, courage, and devotion. Her greatest joy was living for and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her late husband, John F. Mackey; father, James Gaither Cross; two brothers, James (Jelly) Cross and Daniel Cross; and infant son, John Mackey.

Rebecca leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Betty Jean Cross; one sister, Susie Banks; five daughters, Kandie (Cory) Belton, Jositta Mackey, Johnetta Mackey, Cassie Mackey, and Cheyanne Hatcher; one son, Casey(Trisha) Mackey; one step daughter, Ruby Mackey; two stepsons, John Mackey Jr. and Ronald Gamble; twenty-two grandchildren, Joemell, Jamia, Jania, Shauntaye, Naomi, Savion, Gabriella, Johnella, Markus, Jenna, Carmelo, Karrine, Ta'shon, Mabel, Antonio, Desire, Quitin, Tymark, Larell, Darius, Dimond, Alyssa; and a host of extended family and friends.

Private services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021.
