On June 22, 2020, the beloved Rahim Allah (Edward Lee Anderson) ascended to the Mothership. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on August 4, 1947 to Eva Anderson and Ernest Hughes. He shared his birth date with his twin brother, Rahman Allah (Ernest Anderson) (whom he was born 35 minutes after) and lived seventy-two wonderful years.
As a long-time resident of Winston-Salem, he attended Paisley High School and enjoyed school activities with family and friends, especially fishing. He had many talents…shoe repairer, bus driver, and painting to name a few. After many years working at VF Lee Jeans, he retired in 2006 and later went on to retire from Winston-Salem State University in 2013.
In March 1981, he legally changed his name from Edward Lee Anderson to Rahim Allah. A faithful, devoted servant of Almighty God Allah, who came in the person of Master Fard Muhammad and raised up the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the "Exalted Christ" and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, the "Promised Messiah". He was also a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family member. He loved spending time with his family and serving his community in the Nation of Islam. Small in stature but huge in heart. Loud bark but a gentle spirit. Loved and respected by many and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda Walker Allah. He also leaves to mourn his passing his four children: Edward Anderson, Jr. of Bronx, New York; RhaShawn (son-in-law Jonathan) Wells of Mebane, North Carolina; Rahim Rahman (daughter-in-law Shahawna) Allah of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Karim Abdul Allah of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His siblings: Rahman (Barbara) Allah of Charlotte, North Carolina and Hattie Anderson of Washington, DC. His grandchildren: Khahlil, Akeil, Jada, Noah, and Alina. Sister-in-laws: Carolyn (Charles) Bailey, Gwen Jones; brother-in-law: Julius (Daisy) Walker. 11 nieces and nephews. His dear cousin Eddie (Miriam) Heath. His Nation of Islam brothers (Rauf Allah, Napoleon X Muhammad, Hamid Muhammad, and Norman Muhammad). A host of other family and friends. He also fathered the "Boys to Men" of Salem Woods and was affectionately known as the "Neighborhood Dad".
Private services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
