Obituary

Precious Ruby Tacneau Tankersly often called Ruby and also known as "Bay" was born in May 24th, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Alton Walter Tacneau and late Essie Mae Sherrod-Tacneau. Ruby was the youngest of their 5 children. On March 30th, 1968 Precious Ruby Tacneau united in holy matrimony with the late Willie James Tankersly. With this union they had a daughter Monalisa Tankersly (Darin Wheeler) and a son Marion Tankersly (Naomi Tankersly).

Although Ruby was born in Brooklyn she was raised in Queens, NY. After completing high school, Ruby worked as a Janitorial Engineer at Parkway Hospital in Rego Park Queens, NY.

At the age of 30, Ruby was diagnosed with Lupus and throughout the early stages of her known illness suffered with kidney failure amongst other things. In March of 1993 Ruby was blessed to receive a kidney transplant. Despite her illness, Ruby continued on with life and what Ruby was best known for was that she could cook the socks off of anything! Whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert Ruby put it down in the kitchen. And her specialty was definitely desserts. Ruby might whip up a Sock it to me cake, Sweet potato pie, apple pie, lemon meringue pie, blueberry pie and it didn't have to be a special occasion. Not only was Ruby an excellent cook but she was a woman of good taste she could put anything together. Ruby had a heart of gold and when thinking of others knew exactly what type of gift to give. Ruby's gifts were meant to last forever. As you all may know the saying "God gives his toughest lessons to the strongest soldiers" and through all Ruby's trials and tribulations she proved to be a strong soldier and inspiration to everyone in her family and others that she touched throughout her life. God made the decision to call Ruby home to be his personal Master Chef. Although God has accepted her into his house, she will never leave our hearts.

Ruby who departed us on November 17th 2013 is survived by her sister Eire Williams, daughter Monalisa Tankersly and Darin Wheeler and their three sons James, Justin and Jaylen; son Marion Tankersly wife Naomi and their two children Madison and Dillon. In addition, her nieces and nephews Roderick Garcia(Claude Vera), Krystal Williams, John Tacneau "Pudgie", Yahya Tacneau and Aida Tacneau and a host of family and friends loved by her.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm Saturday, November 23 ,2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
