Obituary

Mrs. Phyllis Alfreda Bivins Edwards affectionately known as "Freda" was born June 10, 1958, to the parentage of the late Mr. Joe Bivins and the late Catherine Edwards Bivins.

She was educated in the Jones County and Bibb County School Systems.

Freda met her soulmate, the love of her life Bobby Gene Edwards, and they were united in Holy Matrimony at Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church on December 13, 1980. Freda and Bobby were blessed with three wonderful children, the late Sedric Edwards, Shanosty (Shay) Bivins, and De'Erhoyl (Erik) Johnson. She joined Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church where she was a devoted Choir member and a Deaconess. She also was a faithful member of the Ultimate Choice Community Choir and in her earlier years she was a lead singer with the Powerhouse band. Later in life she and Bobby moved to Clemmons, NC and joined St. Peters Church and World Outreach Center where she served in the Bookstore and Media Ministry.

Through the years, her employment consisted of Macon Telegraph, Amoco Gas Station, Rhodes Furniture, Medical Center, US Airways, Postal Credit Union, Allegacy Bank, and Primerica.

Freda departed this life on Sunday April 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Sedric Edwards; two sisters, Evamae Bivins Mathis and Josephine Bivins Williams; and two brothers, Paul Bivins, Sr. and Frederick Bivins.

She leaves to cherish precious memories to: her husband-Bobby Gene Edwards; her children, Shanosty Bivins, Erik Johnson, and daughter in law Grenada "Chante" Edwards; her three grandchildren who knew her as Mema, Noonk Noonk- Casey (Nicholas) Burke, Mema Precious- Kennedi Edwards and Munchkin-Kelanie Edwards; devoted mother-in-law, Annie C. Edwards; her siblings, La'Verne Bivins (James) Hill, JoAnne Bivins (Oscar) Dillard, Curtis (Sandra) Bivins, Ronnie (Carolyn) Bivins, Karen Bivins (George) Hollis, Maverick (Pamela) Bivins and Deborah (Mobley) Stevenson; one brother in law-

Jackie (Phyllis) Edwards, Jr.; three sisters-in law, Tereasa (Randy) Billingslea, Antoinette (Gregory) Rhymes, and Parissa Bivins; her devoted baby (pet), Bella; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. Peter's Church & World Outreach Center. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.

Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00am Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church, 1180 Bartlet Street, Macon, GA 31204. Interment will be follow in Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA 31204.
