Obituary
Mr. Phillip Melton, Sr., 63 of 1238 Brookwood Drive passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at his home after a short illness. Mr. Melton was the son of Milton Melton, Sr. and Caline Halloday Melton.
He was a graduate of Carver High School and attended Winston-Salem State University. Mr. Melton served in the US Army from 1967 until 1971 when he was honorably discharged. He was employed by Stroh's Brewery and retired after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Amtera Melton; and one brother, Donald Melton.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Dolly Melton; two sons, Philip Melton, Jr. and Lamon Williams; one brother, Milton Melton, Jr.; an adopted daughter, Tonya Payne; four grandchildren, Xavier and Alex Melton, Taeshawn Spence, and Hasad Williams; two aunts, Dorothy Jones and Evelyn Wagner; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, May 30, 2008 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Friday at the Church.
