Obituary
Mrs. Petty S. Gilmore, 85 of 830 W.14th Street passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009.
She was born October 5, 1923 in Lancaster, SC to John Simpson and Callie Key and was employed by Piedmont Leaf Tobacco Company.
Mrs. Gilmore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Gilmore; and one sister, Floyd Barnes.
Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Mary Smoot of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Robert Simpson of Niagara Falls, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, October 16, 2009 from the New Zion Baptist Church, 158 Highland Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC with Reverend Vernon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Mrs. Leola Monroe and Ms. Valerie Booker.
