Mrs. Pearlie Mae Small Mills, 86, affectionately known as Pearl, of 5138 Lansing Dr., formerly of Walkertown, NC, went home peacefully on June 7, 2011 to be with the Lord after a brief illness.
She was born on April 13, 1925 in Charlotte, Co., SC to Thomas Small and Annie Simmons. She was reared by her cousins Mr. Morris and Myrtle Mitchell of Walnut Cove, NC after her mother's death.
Mrs. Mills was a homemaker and a very passionate person to be in the presence of.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 57 years, Deacon Grady C. Mills; and two sons, Richard and Darryl Mills.
She leaves to cherish her memories eight daughters, Delicia Haywood, Brenda Mills, Sharon Clark, Gloria Mills, Marsha Mills, Martha Mills, Beulah Mills, and Jacqueline Mills; four sons, Wayne (Leslie) Mills, Michael Mills, James Mills, and Grandson Mills all of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Mills of Mt. Airy, NC; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Monday, June 13, 2011 at Gethsemane Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ernest McLaurin officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai/Fulp Cemetery, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church.
