On Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 4am, the heavenly angels knocked on the hospital door of Pauline Miller Mitchell and she answered. They gave her wings, which enabled her to fly away from the world of sorrow and pain to spend eternity with the Lord.
Pauline Miller Mitchell was the daughter of the late Willie K. Miller and Mary Moses Miller. She was born on November 12, 1934 in Kershaw, SC. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Miller; three sisters, Catherine Kerr, Elmena Jean, and Ann Carson; and a grandson, Darrell Mitchell.
Pauline found an abundance of joy and happiness in her family, which gave her fulfillment that only she was able to express. She developed a number of long lasting friendships. She was an excellent teacher and caring child care provider. Pauline was also known for her extraordinary cooking skills, especially her famous potato salad.
Pauline was raised and educated in W-S, NC. After graduating from Atkins High School, she attended NC A&T University and then Russell Business School. Pauline and George Mitchell were united in holy matrimony and to this union four children were born: George Louis (Freda) Mitchell, Jr., Myra (Harold) Tucker, Melinda (Carl) Morgan, and Melissa (Wesley) Sweeny.
Pauline leave to cherish her memories her devoted husband and children; one God-daughter, Diane Stowe; two brothers, James Miller and Fred Miller; five grandchildren, Damine, Carlisa, Macayla, Sierra, and Wesley, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Naryah and Timothy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, October 4, 2013 at Antioch Christian Church, 1342 Underwood Ave. W-S, NC with Rev. James A. Gilliam officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
