On Saturday, November 26, 2016, Patricia Galloway Burns affectionately known as "Pat" to her friends, "Aunt Tricia" to her family, and "Suga" to her devoted husband, peacefully entered into eternal rest after a brief period of illness.
Patricia was born on November 8, 1954 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Surles; her sister, Margerine Hicks; and her brother, William Galloway.
Patricia graduated from WSFCS System then later moved to the Washington, DC area when she lived for nearly 3 decades.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She loved to cook, dance and spend time with her husband and grandkids. She was usually the life of the party because of her sense of humor that touched so many. She was definitely a comedian in her own right. Pat was classy with style and grace and took great pride in her appearance.
She leaves to cherish her many wonderful memories, her devoted, loving husband and soulmate Myron Burns; her one and only child and best friend, Latryce Martin; four grandchildren, Aricka, Ariana, Asiah and Amir; three sisters, her older sister, Earline (Herman) McCoy, her baby sister and caregiver, Tawanda Beaver and Lucinda Vaughn; three brothers, Donald (Jenny) Galloway, James Galloway and Darrell Gwyn; four sisters-in- law, Priscilla Burns, Cassandra Burns, Linda Chambers, and Julia Martin; three brothers-in-law, Tommy Burns, Timmy Burns, and Carl (Roxie) Burns; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, December 2, 2016 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop John Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Novant Health Oncology Specialists and Medical Center, especially Dr. Demtria I. Jacks as well as a heartfelt thank you to her employer, Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance.
