Pastor Narvie Jones Tucker, 54, departed from his earthly home on October 21, 2008. Narvie was born November 5, 1953 in Forsyth County to Norvell Jones Tucker and Vernie Mae T. Leak. He was a native of Winston Salem, and graduated from Parkland High School in 1972. He served in the United States Army until 1976. Narvie was the Pastor of High Purpose Church for 10 years and a faithful member of St. Peter's World Outreach center for more than 10 years under the leadership of Bishop Rueben Hash and Bishop JC Hash. He was also a member of Stokesdale Church of God, under the leadership of Reverend Gwalthney Leak, his uncle. Most recently, Narvie accepted a position as Pastor of Cedar Street Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Kevin Tucker and Terence Leak.
Narvie leaves behind his faithful and devoted wife of 28 years, Deborah McLaurin Tucker; a son, Narvie Jarrell Tucker; mother, Vernie Mae T. Leak; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Bessie McLaurin; four sisters, Joanie, Debra, Kathy Ann, and Karen Tucker; cherished aunts, Earline Buston (Mike), Minnie Polite, and Annie Mason; uncles, Reverend Gwalthney Leak, Elder James Leak (Barbara), and Robert Leak; great aunts, Mamie Ellis, Enda Mae Horne, and Mondrew Mims; one sister- in-law, Brenda M. Taylor (Ron); two brothers in-law, Derwood McLaurin and Robert Glenn McLaurin (Evelyn); two close friends, a cousin Chris Polite (Sheila) and Steve Minor (Sharon); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, October 24, 2008 from the St. Peter's World Outreach Center with Reverend Gwalthney Leak officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12 Noon on Friday at the Church
