Ovelia Brown departed this life on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born December 23, 1923 in Florence County, SC.
She was educated in the public schools of Florence County. She was a resident of Winston-Salem, NC for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Brown, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Ms. Beatie Brown Malone of Winston-Salem, NC; two sons, Jesse (Le'Vern) Brown and Jimmie Brown of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Viola Bradley of Winston-Salem, NC and Mary Ann (Waites, Jr.) Epps of Cades, SC; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Basil Kellyman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
