Mr. Otis Lane Sanders, 67, of 613 N. Jackson Ave. passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 after an extended illness. He was affectionately known as "Joe" to his siblings and "Lane" to his friends. He was born October 7, 1939 in Forsyth County to Otis Ed and Margie Chick Sanders.
He retired from Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools after 25 years of service. He also worked for Lentz Transfer and Storage Co. until his health declined.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Sanders Brandon.
Surviving are one son, Otis Lane Sanders, Jr.; one daughter, Davida Sanders both of New York City, NY; a special caregiver, Myrna Walker; four sisters, Patsy Todd, Lottie Barber (Robert), Janice Jackson (John), and Mattie Brock (James); an uncle, an aunt, and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Leroy Kelly, Pastor of Christ Temple Apostolic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
