Othello R. Gaddy was born January 31, 1961. Othello was the 3rd born to James W. and Agnes L. Gaddy. He left this side on Monday, April 1, 2024, after a battle with cancer in Arlington, VA with his baby sister by his side.
Othello was known to many in his life as "Ot". He was a graduate of North Forsyth Senior High school, class of 1980. Continuing his preparation for his career at Apex truck driving school, obtaining his CDL's.
Othello worked numerous jobs over the years including Western Electric, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, the City of Winston- Salem, and after his move to Indian Head, MD for Reliable Construction Company until his health started to decline. He remained in Indian Head with his sister, Delphine as his caregiver (9 years) and support from his brother, Walter.
Othello was a die-hard Carolina Panther Fan and enjoyed Duke University football and basketball.
Othello was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Agnes (aka Lorraine) Gaddy; grandparents, Roberta Petree Gaddy and Pate Gaddy, Anna and Welcher Ferguson; uncles, Robert Ferguson, James (Jim) Ferguson, Jack Ferguson, Christopher Ferguson; and aunts, Margaret Rawley and Isabelle Barrett.
Othello showed his love for his family by making sure he was present at the births of his nieces and nephews, and ready to travel at a moment's notice of their arrival. Though he had no biological children of his own, he was a father figure to many and he loved his nieces and nephews as his own.
Othello leaves to cherish his memories, his siblings, Walter R.M. Gaddy (Deborah) of Pikesville, MD, Delphine G. Owens of Indian Head, MD, and Jamestris G. Watson (Keith) of Winston-Salem, NC; one aunt, Mildred Dorothy "Dot" Ferguson; nieces, Joi (Anthony), Hope, and Jasanna (Tieed); nephews, Jason Wade, Martin Owens, Julius (BreAnna), Keith (KJ) Jimal Watson; three great nieces, Grace, Love, and Julia; one great nephew, Saint; soon to come, two great nieces, Sage and Ava; close cousins, Kirk Mack, Robert Rawley and Willie Cremedy, Jr., with whom he enjoyed many fishing trips; devoted family friends, Lela James, Larry Haney and Fajayan (Chub) Sowells; and a host of loving family, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:30pm on Thursday at the Church.
