Mrs. Olivia Fulp Hairston, 83, passed away February 24, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 13, 1927 to Cyrus Orren Fulp and Amanda Murray Fulp.
Olivia was a graduate of Atkins High School.
She married William Frederick Hairston on December 19, 1959. She attended Winston-Salem Teacher's College (WSSU) and Russell's Commercial School. She was employed at Winston-Salem State University in the Registrar's Office from 1948-1978.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was also affiliated with Miriam Missionary Group at Mt. Zion and the Castle Heights Community Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyrus and Amanda Fulp; her husband, William Frederick Hairston; and one brother, William Leon Fulp, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Yvette Hairston; her brothers, Theodore Calvin Fulp, Sr., Cyrus Bernard Fulp, Sr., and Jarvis Reginald Fulp; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 12noon, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Walkertown, NC with Dr. Serenus Churn officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
