On June 1, 2010 Ms. Ola Mae Deberry departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest. She was born to the late Lonnie and Daisy Deberry in Anson County on November 7, 1934.
Ms. Deberry accepted Christ at an early age at Streeter Grove AME Zion Church in Anson County. She later moved her membership to Goler Memorial AME Zion Church where she served on the Gospel Choir and other auxiliaries in prior years.
She was a retired employee of Sara Lee with twenty years of service.
Ms. Deberry was preceded in death by two brothers, Perry and Joe Deberry; and one sister, Ethel Deberry.
Survivors include one beloved daughter, Minnie Elaine Deberry of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, James (Bessie) Deberry and Lonnie (Dorothy) Deberry both of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Sarah D. Reed of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother-in-law, William Little; three devoted grandchildren, Timothy (Pamala) Deberry, Dekeith Deberry, and Lashonda Deberry all of Winston-Salem, NC; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church with Reverend Dr. Seth O. Lartey officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
